FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The questions we hear most often about our brands, retail locations, technical service and watch care.
General
What does Şark Saatçilik do?
Since 2000 we have been the distributor for leading Swiss watch manufactures in Türkiye. Brand representation, the authorized retail network and technical service, under one roof.
Which brands do you represent?
Ulysse Nardin, Girard-Perregaux, Bovet, Corum, Oris, Norqain, L'Epée 1839 and Buben & Zörweg. Each has its own page in the Brands section.
What does being an authorized distributor mean?
We run the official distribution and after-sales operations in Türkiye for the brands we represent. Every watch purchased from our authorized retail locations carries an international warranty.
What are the series made for Türkiye?
Together with the brands we represent, we have commissioned limited series dedicated to Türkiye — Savarona and the Bosphorus Cup among them. The full archive is on our Heritage page.
Buying and retail locations
Can I buy a watch through the website?
We do not sell online. The collections can be viewed in person at our authorized retail locations across Türkiye.
Where can I see the collections?
On our Retail Locations page you can filter authorized locations by city or brand. You are also welcome to ask us for the one nearest to you.
How do I get price and availability information?
For prices and availability, contact your nearest authorized retail location, or reach us by phone or e-mail.
What if the model I am looking for is not at a retail location?
Get in touch with us and we will inform you about the availability of that model in Türkiye.
Technical service and warranty
How do I apply for technical service?
Send your request by e-mail or phone; our team will inform you about hand-over options and the process. Details are on the Technical Service page.
What are the warranty terms?
Your timepiece is guaranteed for two years against manufacturing defects, provided the guarantee card carries the exact reference and serial numbers, the date of purchase and the stamp and signature of the authorized retailer.
What happens to my watch at the service?
Every watch brought to the technical service goes through quality control and is examined as rigorously as a newly manufactured piece.
Watch use and care
What is the difference between quartz and mechanical?
A quartz watch runs on a battery and a quartz crystal; a mechanical watch is driven by a wound spring through a movement of well over a hundred parts. A mechanical watch asks for regular servicing — and in return can be passed from one generation to the next.
Do I need to wind an automatic watch?
Worn regularly, the movement of your wrist winds the watch. Left unworn for a while, it uses up its power reserve and stops; winding it by hand and setting the time is enough.
What do water-resistance ratings mean?
The metre figure on the case indicates pressure resistance, not diving depth. Lower ratings cover everyday contact with water; 100 metres and above is suitable for swimming. As gaskets age over time, have the water resistance checked regularly.
How should I store my watch when it is not in use?
Keep it in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and magnetic fields. A watch winder can keep an automatic watch wound.
